// Antonio Arebalo //

Antonio is the first fan to contact us asking to present a mix. Keeping true to the original idea of the CONDUIT, we decided to take a chance on the longtime, but unknown, Antonio Arebol as a way to champion music we like from California. The Southern California based DJ, in turn, delivers passionate live mix that is a worthy 45th edition of the series.   – Sean-Michael Yoder

// Bio //

Antonio discovered his love for music as a youth in the streets of New Jersey and New York. The emergence of his love for music began with the sound of Kiss, Cheap trick, Rush, Boogie Down Productions and Wu-Tang Clan. As an adolescent Antonio decided to move to Phoenix Arizona in 1989 where resided there until 1999. Open-minded and eager for new challenges Antonio headed west to Los Angeles in March of 1999. New to the scene, Antonio accepted an invitation from a new friend to “Magic Wednesday” where he met his girlfriend, soon enough together they went to various clubs in addition too massive raves. Many local and national DJ’s ranging from Thee-O, DJ Dan and Donald Glaude quickly became heroes to him as he admired their candid ability to transform music by mixing. Without hesitation, Antonio quickly embarked on his journey to spin music. Dedicated to learning the skill, Antonio studied favorite mix cd’s and researched top of the line equipment. In no time Antonio purchased his MK3 Technics turntables, a Pioneer DJM500, and a JBL EON monitor in January 2001. Within one year through hard work and dedication his skills have drastically improved. Antonio’s sound is very unique as he does not discriminate against any particular genre of electronic dance music, spinning anything from house, progressive/trance, techno/electro, breaks and so forth. Antonio Arebalo has performed at various clubs in the Los Angeles area. His music shows professionalism variety and most of all passion.

// Jonra //

We bounce back down to SoCal to check in with L.A. DJ and producer Jonra, founder of the decade old Designforms label. The guy has remained on point all these years because he’s got excellent taste in music and puts out releases that have some character and depth. He’s also worked with one of our favorite producers – Lucas Rodenbush AKA E.B.E. and makes excellent downtempo tracks under the guise The Storytellerz. Here he shows us what his label is all about – rich tech-house that is actually both and reflects the seasonless, permanent summer vibe of the City of Angeles with references to surfing and other distinct elements of Southern California life that we simply cannot get enough of.  – Sean-Michael Yoder

// Bio //

Jonra is a long-time visionary of the Los Angeles electronic music scene. He has collected records for a better part of his life and draws from such pioneering influences as Kraftwerk, Yaz and Level 42. Since 1990, he has been a persistent fixture in the LA underground, having experienced such legendary SoCal events as Flammable Liquid, Fresh Produce and Citrus Sonic parties, and has also been host to several of his own parties, booking such influential talent as Mark Grant, John Tejada, Mike Clark, Carl Craig, Dan Bell, Titonton Duvante, and Dan Curtin amongst others. Jonra continues to develop Designforms, pushing ahead a forward thinking sound that asks the questions.

// John Tejada //

It’s quite exciting to have the legendary Los Angeles producer/DJ John Tejada drop a mix for our series. It’s one he made exclusively for us that focuses entirely on his Palette imprint. Any Californian worth his weight in salt and of a discerning ear will tell you how much of an influence this guy’s music has had on their own. One of my favorite things about this series has been that guys even older than me are still going strong with their passion and devotion to the craft, and Tejada is a founding influence out West who has been going strong since the days of KDAY on the AM down in the Basin. My own connection to him stretches the divide between my days as a hawker of digital music with those of my vinyl selling days, but it stretches even further back to my days of living in Hollywood. Back in those days there was lots of obnoxious trance as well as hardcore, which I fully enjoyed, but Tejada was always that one guy who showed the promise of unmitigated techno and even the joys of well done drum & bass. I didn’t know him then (and barely know him now), but thought he still might be around later down the road. One reason is that he’s never wavered, nor has his label, in constancy of purpose. You can also hear that quality on Tejada’s  recent remix of Deepak Sharma & Dieter Krause’s “Wolkenreise” and also on his recently announced album for Kompakt due out this summer.  In the meantime, this guy ain’t goin’ nowhere and should continue be an influence for years to come. Without further ado, we give you John Tejada.  – Sean-Michael Yoder
